Every kitchen, every cabinet, and every custom-built piece starts with a conversation. We want to know how you live, how you move through your space, what details matter most to you. We take those ideas and turn them into something tangible, something built to last.
Because we are a small team, you work directly with us. From Krissy’s thoughtful design to Derek’s hands-on craftsmanship, we guide you through the process with honesty, care, and attention to detail. We know you are trusting us with your home, and we do not take that lightly.
Derek Letcher
Founder & Lead Craftsman
Derek’s journey into cabinetmaking started in his mid-30s when an opportunity came along to learn a new skill.He jumped at the chance, not realising it would lead to owning his own business years later. As Bespoke Projects has grown, Derek now oversees every stage of production, maintaining a close relationship with clients and ensuring each project meets his high standards.
With a deep respect for traditional craftsmanship and an ever-growing passion for working with timber, Derek continues to refine his skills, learning advanced techniques such as steam bending from master craftsmen like David Upfill-Brown. His hands-on approach, attention to detail, and genuine personality make him an integral part of every project. Whether it is a custom kitchen, a piece of handcrafted furniture, or a full home fit-out, Derek brings experience, precision, and care to everything he creates.
Krissy Letcher
Designer & Interior Specialist
Krissy understands that great design is about more than just aesthetics—it is about how a space feels and functions in everyday life. She brings a thoughtful and considered approach to every project, ensuring that each design not only looks beautiful but works seamlessly for the people who live in it. Her eye for detail and passion for bespoke craftsmanship were shaped early on while working for Rolls RoyceMotor Cars in England, where she saw first-hand what true custom design and personalised service looked like.
After returning to New Zealand, Krissy completed a Diploma in Interior Design, followed by a second Diploma inKitchen and Bathroom Design through the NKBA. At Bespoke Projects, she works closely with clients to shape spaces that reflect their needs and style. She believes that simplicity, quality materials, and well-thought-out design should always take priority, creating kitchens and interiors that stand the test of time.
James Patterson
Cabinetmaker & Production Planner
James’ path to cabinetmaking was anything but ordinary. With a background as a chef, his creativity, precision, and understanding of ergonomics made for a natural transition into designing and crafting kitchens. His passion for working with timber, combined with his meticulous eye for detail, makes him a key part of the Bespoke Projects team.
James plays a vital role in production planning, ensuring that once a design is finalised, it is brought to life with care and precision. His knowledge of materials, sustainability, and practical function means that every kitchen, cabinet, and custom piece is crafted to work as beautifully as it looks.
Matt
Cabinetmaker
Matt brings years of hands-on industry experience to Bespoke Projects. Trained by the same mentor as Derek, he has developed a strong technical skill set and an instinct for fine craftsmanship. His ability to solve complex design challenges, along with his sharp eye for detail, ensures that every piece meets the highest standard.
Whether working on intricate custom furniture or large-scale kitchen cabinetry, Matt takes pride in getting every detail right. His experience and problem-solving skills make him an invaluable part of the team, ensuring each project runs smoothly from concept to completion.
